Background

Recombinant RNase inhibitors (ribonuclease inhibitors, RI) are used to inhibit RNase activity during RNA-related experiments. Small amounts of RNase may contaminate the purified RNA during most of RNA extraction procedures, and compromise downstream applications such as reverse transcription (RT), RT-PCR, and RT-qPCR. Such contamination can also be introduced via tips, tubes, and other reagents used in these downstream applications. Mammalian ribonuclease inhibitors, ~50-kDa cytosolic proteins, bind to pancreatic-type ribonucleases with femtomolar affinity and effectively prevent RNase contamination. The murine RNase inhibitor has better resistance to oxidation than the human and porcine RNase inhibitors, which is ideal for RT-PCR and RT-qPCR reactions where low DTT concentrations are required.

Recombinant Murine RNase Inhibitor (RI)

The recombinant murine RNase inhibitor was expressed in and purified from E. coli. It can extensively inhibit various RNases (RNase A, B, C). Murine RNase Inhibitor has undergone RT-PCR and RT-qPCR tests and is compatible with various Reverse Transcriptases and Taq DNA Polymerases. Neither DNases nor RNases are present. 

Unit definition: One unit of the recombinant murine RNase inhibitor means the protein amount used to inhibit the activity of 5 ng of RNase A by 50%, which is measured by the inhibition of hydrolysis of cytidine 2', 3'-cyclic monophosphate by RNase A.
